Sewickley REsidence

When the Owner of this residence purchased an old farm house, they knew they wanted more space. We worked with them to create a vision of the original farm house transformed into a grand farm estate with a double height great room, free standing fireplace, and ample room to cook, entertain, and work.

The proposed addition almost triples the square footage of the home, and the new wrap around porch overlooking a stream in the front yard lends the home an even more substantial presence. The existing farm house is characterized by a field stone cladding, while the new construction has a traditional lap siding finish. The simple materials and color palette balance the size of the house and keep the asymmetrical proportions (driven largely by the existing house and site conditions) in harmony with the rest of the site.

Settled at the bottom of a large slope, the meadow and woods cradle this house to form a quiet refuge that captures the essence of being "on the farm" with all the amenities of a luxury residence.
